Why BC has the Highest Drug Rates in Canada

Canada's province with the highest drug rate is British Colombia. There are a couple reasons which I believe are the reason for this stat. One is the fact that we are on the pacific coast which means that importing across the border will be easier than other provinces. The fact that we are on the ocean helps increase heavier drugs in the population but not necessarily drugs like cannabis. My thinking for our high rates of drug related crime is that we have a lot of youth, especially in the interior that have a lot of boredom. If people aren't busy they tend to want to have more fun and drugs can be a part of that. My theory is that the people committing the crime, either possession, trafficking, importing or exporting all chose to do it. It mostly is not stemmed from background, religion or race as much as the other crimes. So overall my thoughts on why BC has the highest provincial drug rate is the fact that we are connected  to the ocean and that a lot of people may do it because of simple boredom.

On March 9, 2017 Mark and Jodie Emery faced 5 charges of possession and trafficking marijuana in their 19 pot shops across Canada. These stores are of course illegal but they had them running anyway. Why people would run such a risky business is because they simply don't care about the risks they are taking. This crime belongs to what I said in the fact that they choose to commit crimes.
