Scooby Doo

1. The creators of Scooby Doo would have a lot of different outlooks on crime based on what generation you look at. In the 2000's the show displays more of a positive, attractive style of the story. The villans/criminals never have "demonic" reasoning because they think it will scare off kids who are the main viewers. As for the main characters, they find that each character needs to be based on a certain personality stereotype in order to be popular.

2. I personally do not feel very similar to any of the characters as the males on the show are Fred and Shaggy. Fred is a nerd of some fashion as well as being the partial brains behind the group. Shaggy is well, a hippie. It never seemed to have an affect on me that I didn't exactly related to anyone on the show just because they are well rounded characters.

3. The content of the show is very different the a ordinary crime show. It of course is animated but it is also a very colourful show with very little violence. All of the characters are very positive and loving people and of course you can't forget about Scooby who isn't actually relevant to the crime solving but is there to attract kids. He is just a loveable dog, Shaggy is a goof, Velma is a "geek", Daphne is the pretty girl and Fred is the leader. This is all drawn out to attract kids to watch these awesome characters solve petty crimes.

4. Daphne is an example of who is shown in a positive light in the show because she proves to not be the most essential piece to the puzzle but is there because she's the pretty girl. So therefor that means that beauty and fashion are shown positively. Velma is somebody who is shown more negatively because she is less attractive than Daphne. She is also a lot more essential to the story as she is the brains behind everything but that is sort of covered up. Velma will relate to some girls but I believe that Daphne is shown more positively because girls watching the show would rather be known as the pretty one so they like her better.

5. The main thing not shown in the show is the reality of violence and crime in society. It's not shown due to the fact that kids won't enjoy it as much as a easily solvable petty crime. Never in Scooby Doo will you see a violent offence being committed or even a romantic act for that matter. This is all because the viewers are believed to not like the reality of crime and would rather see a small crime being solved. The criminal is always caught for either thievery, property damage etc. Audiences might draw the conclusion that every crime isn't directly violent to another person or that every one can be solved easily.

6. Scooby Doo explains crime as an act which makes the criminals life easier while not causing any violence towards others. It also shows that every crime can be solved without the use of professional investigators or police work. The show never brings back an old criminal or tells you what their punishment is which could lead viewers to believe they are under police control forever. In terms of gender roles in the show, it is based on males being the most successful. Of course Velma, Daphne and guest women help solve the case it is usually Fred, Shaggy or Scooby that are given the credit for the mystery. Velma may be the most important member due to her brains but is not the head of the group because they want an alpha male. Daphne is honestly just there to be pretty.
